I’ve worked at some of London’s best-regarded digital agencies – heading up teams of copywriters, working on content strategy, and encouraging far too many pub lunches. Brands I’ve written for include names you know – like New Balance, Net-A-Porter, and Pfizer – as well as tonnes of lovely startups, innovative SaaS platforms, and big-hearted businesses looking to make a difference in the world. Bit of a gear-change from those London lunches – I now work from my North Yorkshire home, usually with my silly labrador, Ziggy, snoozing at my feet.

Where the hell did a decade go?
I've been copywriting for 12 years – starting at a small SEO agency in Leeds and working my way up to Lead Copywriter at an award-winning digital growth agency in London. In 2019, feeling a fizzing, hard-to-ignore pull to return to my Northern roots, I set up my own business and skidaddled outta the Big Smoke.

I believe all great copy starts with empathy. Understanding the nuances of human emotion. What drives a click. What causes someone to linger on a post. What makes an article genuinely purposeful.
Hot take: being empathetic is a copywriting superpower. It's what makes us stop and understand what someone else is feeling, rather than trying to push through with what we think they should be feeling. Big difference.

I LOVE tone-driven work, whether crafting a new voice for a startup – or editing existing copy 'til it's fully on-brand.
I think there’s something so nuanced and wonderful about the English language. I love playing around with words until the voice is just right – whether for an in-depth article or a teensy piece of microcopy.
